DescriptionOn 6 March locals gather at Emily Bay in Historic Kingston to re-enact and commemorate Foundation Day, the arrival of the British First Fleeters under the command of Lt. Philip Gidley King on Norfolk Island on the 6 March 1788. This was the very first European settlement here on Norfolk Island. Captain James Cook had landed here in October 1774 and the British had instructed the Australian First Fleeters to also sail to Norfolk Island to set up a British Colony on our remote South Pacific Island. Then it’s off to a traditional Island lunch. You will sample some traditional Norfolk wetls, enjoy complimentary red and white wine, orange juice, tea and coffee. Baunti Tours will also feature a local entertainer for their guests at the Foundation Day lunch.
